Methodology
Data limitations
How to read a prospectus vs holdings file. All source data is public EDGAR; we do not scrape fund-company websites. Scorecards use methodology version scorecard-2026-08.
N-PORT lag
Funds file N-PORT monthly, but only quarter-end portfolios are public. Intra-quarter holdings are confidential until later. The as-of date on a scorecard is the latest public filing, not today.
Prospectus extraction
Objective and strategy text come from the latest 497K or 485 we can parse. Heading layouts differ by issuer; sections can be truncated or missing. 80% policy language is detected with rules, not a lawyer’s reading. N-CSR shareholder-report excerpts are the latest public certified report we can parse and may be absent.
What we do not score yet
Style, sector, and market-cap mixes (including the 3×3 style box) are name/ticker heuristics plus optional labels — not GICS, live market-cap, or a P/B–growth factor model. Active share is measured against a proxy ETF N-PORT (for example SPY for the S&P 500), not official index constituent weights. Full SAI parsing remains out of scope.
Not investment advice
The workspace is a review aid built from public SEC EDGAR filings. It does not recommend buying or selling any fund.
